New Year's Resolution

Ang New Year's Resolution ko ay maging mas mabait na asawa... ^-^

- Maging masipag sa mga gawaing bahay (wah, good luck to me)
- Maging matipid, keep a budget
- Huwag palakihin ang maliliit na bagay
- Huwag mag inarte in public >.<
- Maging mas meek, makinig sa asawa
- Maging mas maalalahanin

giddy

just last week an idea came to me. i wanted to be able to read, well, the scriptures in the office without having to look like some preachy pretentious dweeb with scriptures in my hand. i mean, i don't want people to think i'm some holy - ish type. and i thought, hmnnn, the thing for this is a smart phone, one w/c i can install a scripture reader with.

so i've been playing with the idea of a new phone for two weeks now. i looked around yesterday for the new models. and despite LOSING money everytime i buy a gadget, i am giddy with excitement. i mean, look,

case 1. i bought a nokia 6233 phone december of last year. at that time it was about 21k. i asked how much it is today and a brand new one is less than 9k. so i just LOST 12 thousand pesos over the course of only one year. to make that same amount of money in investments, i would have had to invested a hundred thousand in a trust fund w/ an roi of at least 12%. good luck with that.
case 2. i also bought a canon i5 some two years ago. at that time, it was also about 21k. today, digital cameras w/ much higher specs (also canon brand), say one 7.1 megapixel camera is available for about 8k. considering, i lost about 13 thousand pesos with this gadget.
and
case 3. i bought my iPod nano 2GB for 11k a year and a half ago. with the newer iPod models now, i know 2GB models now come for so much less...

so, really, experience tells me i will undoubtedly LOSE money when i buy some new gadget. losing money is a bad thing. but yea, i can't wait to go to some cashier and hand over my credit card, swipe it and sign a little piece of white paper w/c will give me access to a brand new toy. i can't wait, can't wait.

maybe i'll buy a new phone later.

end of june

half the year is almost over and as with any "end" it feels like i should
have accomplished something. pero, as always, it seems like time just kind
of flew by without any significant progress on my part.
hah. jacqui, who now calls herself lanie, emailed me at sabi mag blog naman
daw ako ulet. oks, i'll try.
as an update, here's what 1/2 of 2007 has been like so far:

"You are the 'mother' of the house," says my dad as it's been just me,
my sister, and her sixteen-year-old cousin in the apartment. Mahirap din
when you have to think and take care of things like a burnt light bulb,
a rusty sink, and a toilet bowl that faces the wall. Bi-weekly drinking
water deliveries have to be coordinated, laundries have to be sent out,
and the garbage collector has to be paid, among other things.
When you work for a bank subsidiary, it's easier to get a credit card. I
have a BPI Edge, an Edge Mini, a BPI Classic card, an HSBC Red card and,
just recently, a Citibank Visa. My credit has exploded to preposterous
heights and I can't seem to get out of debt. I keep planning on spending
just the bare minimum but everyday I have Sausage McMuffins, Tofi Luks
and Sundaes. I can't buy cell phone load but I am forced to pay Late
Charges and Finance Charges. I have since stopped accepting offers for
new credit cards and when I pay all my outstanding balances (when oh
when?), I'm getting rid of these plastics!
"Dalaga ka na," ang words ni Jacqui-slash-Lanie. Kasama ng "pagdadalaga"
ang talks of marriage, promises of abstinence at daily battles with the
tempter. "Nagdalaga" ako dahil nagka-boyfriend ako. Now my new hobbies
include picking fights, being jealous, and the 'daily battles with the
tempter'. I've had back massages, brownies galore and red roses too.
Someone gets jealous over long talks with new guy friends, someone holds
my hand as I go down buses and stairs, and someone understands and says
'I love you'.

most things will stay the same, i think, through the end of the year
(although, hopefully, my credit balance won't).
